Writing flight data on the screen within EGIS AVIA Flight Movement Management Module

A character recognition interface for EGIS AVIA Flight Movement Management module is under development, and will benefit from up-to-date technoloy enhancements. Instead of selecting characters on a virtual keyboard, this interface, wholly integrated within current interface, will allow Air Traffic Controllers to write directly on a dedicated part of the screen.

The dedicated interface replacing the virtual keyboard allows enough room for quick and easy writing, whereas writing directly inside the fileds (top part of the snapshot) would have required smaller and slower writing.

This easier and quicker way to fill flight data will comply with safety requirements, by appropriate checking of the written characters with user's intervention if needed. The user will also always have the choice to switch to the usual  virtual keyboard if he doesn't want to use the writing interface.

A prototype video sample, showing the writing of a whole set of flight data is available. If this video is too large for your screen, you can try this smaller one. To play the video through your web browser, you may have to download Adobe Shockwave Player plugin.
